Event: Talking the Language of the Hands: British Sign Language Taster

Did you know that 1 in 7 people are deaf, and approximately 500,00(!) people in the UK use British Sign Language to communicate? Crazy, right?
It’s not as crazy as it sounds, because the rest of us might speak English or another spoken language, but we communicate largely by using our bodies and facial expressions.
If you have ever been interested in learning about deafness, the d(D)eaf community, and British Sign Language, then this is the perfect opportunity!
Join ISoc and partner organisation SignHow for a unique intro to BSL event in which you will learn basic conversational signs, and practice signing in an interactive taster session aiming to debunk myths about deafness, and raise awareness of the importance of learning sign language and making our world more accessible and inclusive to people who are deaf and hard of hearing.
